The selection of location and site for a service department obviously depends on a number of factors and tradeoffs among benefits and costs. However, this study selected outpatients´ moving line length among factors that dominates the selection process and limits the number of feasible locations to be evaluated.
The outpatients´ service departments of a university hospital in local area is reorganized to the shorter moving line by mathemathical linear programming (LP) method. The service departments is reorganized by 3 steps, and at the each step the cost-benefit analysis is operated.
At the first step, total cost is saved about 33,430 thousand Won. And at the second and third step, total cost is saved about 15,070 thousand Won and 6,440 Won each.
